Why I decided to change? The wake up call

Why I decided to change?

Overeating and drinking were an inevitable part of my daily lifestyle.

But unlike most overweight individuals, I made a resolution to hit the gym and work out a little harder.

I know of people who hit the gym to look good in those adorable gym selfies.

But the glorious and beautiful thing about working out is that they’re so many reasons to do it.

Do you want to know why I decided to change? I changed because I realized three important things:

1.  Being overweight is the root cause of my problems & limitations

Working out helps me to manage my weight.

Being overweight was the cause of my health problems and limitation.

Being overweight had made me unable of completing even the simplest physical tasks.

Working out and eating healthy has helped me to burn calories continuously.

It has also prevented me from doing self-destructive activities like overeating because it keeps me busy and disciplined.

Being overweight is the leading cause of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure, which are very frightening realities for everyone.

Working out has helped me to keep a close track of my weight because I always track my progress.

Keeping track of my progress helps to keep my weight in check.

2.  If I don’t take care of my body now, then it won’t take care of me in the future

I learned that the only way to love my body is by taking good care of it so that it takes good care of me in the future.

If I want to live longer, I needed a few fundamental lifestyle changes that lower the risk of getting many age-related diseases.

Working out also increases my chances of staying independent and active in the future.

A study done by Saint-Maurice shows a decline in the risk of dying early in people who exercise frequently compared to those who don’t.

The study also showed drops in cancer risk and heart disease among the regular exercisers, too.

This study revealed the importance of taking care of my body now for the sake of my future.

3.  If I don’t love myself, then it will be so difficult to love anything else

I know that right now my body looks nothing close as my dream body, but I still love it that way.

If I don’t love it this way, I find it difficult to love everything else that’s around me.

I’m proud, and I always appreciate my body for what it can do.

The fact that I have the energy to hit the gym and lift weights comfortably is something to be proud of.

Every time I participate in an active session, I remind myself of how grateful I am to have the ability to do so.

Falling in love with my healthy and active body makes it easier to fall in love with everything else around me.

Even though the transformation process was not perfect; working out and leading a healthy lifestyle was the lifesaver that I really needed.

It’s the only factor that helped me heal, taught me to let go of expectations, accepting myself, and most importantly, it taught me how to love myself.

I hope you get inspired by this story of making change.
