Why should I care about my body’s needs?
We’ve all heard about leading healthy lifestyles by eating well, working out, and avoiding harmful substances.
At one time, I stopped and asked myself this question, “Why should I care about my body’s needs?” Caring about my body’s needs benefits my physical, emotional, and mental health.
Healthy habits improve my overall well-being, which makes me feel good.
Caring about my body isn’t an easy task; it often needs a change in my mindset.
The sacrifices I make to better my health has lots of benefits.
Here are five reasons why I care about my body’s needs by leading a healthy lifestyle
1. Controls weight
Working out regularly and eating right helps me avoid gaining excess weight and to maintain a healthy weight.
Being physically active is very important if one wants to achieve his/her weight-loss goals.
Besides losing weight, working out improves my cardiovascular health, boosts my immune system, and increases my energy levels.
2. Improves mood
Working out my body parts pays off for my mind as well.
Studies show that physical activity encourages the production of endorphins.
These are brain chemicals that stimulate relaxation and happiness.
Caring about my body by exercising and feeding it with a healthy diet leads to a better mood and physique.
Having a good physique makes me feel better about my appearance, which boosts my self-esteem and confidence.
Exercising and eating healthy also decreases stress and improves cognitive function.
3. Combats diseases
Leading a healthy lifestyle helps to prevent certain health conditions; these include heart diseases, diabetes, high blood pressure, and stroke.
Caring about my body’s needs helps to keep my blood pressure and cholesterol within a safe range.
This keeps my blood flowing smoothly, thus decreasing the risk of suffering from cardiovascular diseases.
Weight lifting and eating healthy has also helped me to manage or prevent a wide range of health problems.
4. Boosts energy
We’re all aware of the sluggish feeling that comes after eating lots of unhealthy food.
Feeding my body with a balanced diet daily gives it the fuel it needs to manage my energy levels.
Regular weight lifting also improves my muscle strength and boosts my endurance levels.
Weightlifting increases the number of nutrients and oxygen that gets to my tissues.
This gives me more energy to go about my daily activities.
It also helps gives me better sleep, giving my muscles enough rest.
5. Takes care of my psychological needs
Did you know that that psychological need satisfaction is vital to an individual’s well-being, and that it should be among the biggest priorities?
